Best Spring 2012 R-T-W Shows

          Over the past few months, most designer brands have had their ready to wear collections released.  On style.com you can view all of the different designers, but here are my top three favorite collections, why and what made them special:

All Photos from Style.com

1. L.A.M.B
       LAMB is a brand by Gwen Stefani supposedly based off her rocker chic style: Je l'adore! I do not know what the inspiration for their collection of 2012 ready to wear was, but this show was truly amazing.  I would wear every one of the outfits shown at the show, any day, any time!  In one word:  amazinglystylisheffortlesslybeautifulcool.
          Although it was extremely hard to choose, I ultimately selected my top five favorite outfits and why.  If I had the thousands of dollars it costs to buy this clothing, I would definitely get it without a second thought.  I cannot say enough about this collection, the photos here only give you a taste of this amazing collection.  View it here, my favorite looks are: 3 (above), 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 21, 22 (right), 23, 26 and 27

Overall: Totally worth breaking the jar!

2. Christian Dior
Fav Look!
        Totally unrelated to the fact I love this designer's name, he is amazing!  His dresses are new and elegant, and very wearable.  Even a young teenager could wear many of his dresses and still look both age appropriate and stylish - same goes for those older.  Christian Dior's ready to wear collection had many very vintage looks,  but these were mixed with an equal number of modern, updated looks.  Adorable and classy, the opposite of the LAMB collection.  The only reason this collection did not receive the number one spot is simply due to the fact that some of the looks were more a miss then a hit, unlike the LAMB collection.  For example: look 20.  What was he thinking?  I do not want to look like I'm tiled like a bathroom floor!  I also loved the makeup of the models during this show, bold lips and pretty eyes!

Overall: Many worth breaking the jar, some.....not so much

3. Burberry Prorsum
Look 1
Burberry: the ultimate prepster clothing line.  I love a lot of Burberry clothing.  The shoes, the bags (especially from this collection) and most of all the Burberry trench-coat.  J'adore le Burberry trench-coat.  I would kill to own one of those, or maybe two, one in beige one in egplant purple (see look 1) each worth $1000.  This is what intrigued me about the Ready-To-Wear line from Burberry, from the very first look.  Look one of the Burberry line up is simple, elegant and definitely something I would wear.  The hat, the coat, the bag the shoes!  All of it!  Possibly my favorite look from Spring 2012 (more on that later)!  Anyways, besides this look, the collection just goes downhill.  The trench-coats are belted beautifully in many looks, but other then that I was sorely disappointed.  there are numerous examples of poor color choices that made me feel dull, not the vibrancy of spring!  I would only buy a few things out of this collection as far as clothing, but accessories are another story.  Hats: AMAZING! Bags: Magnifique!  Shoes: obsessed!

Overall: Accessories: A++
            Clothing: C-
            Trench Coats: A+++++
Trench Coats- TOTALLY worth breaking the jar

Worst Collections Spring 2012:
  • Celine - Although many loved her collection this Spring, I was not a fan.  I did not like her model's hair or makeup, and found her clothing did not flatter then at all.
  • Alexander Wang - Some items were quite nice, but many served to make models look like cool people wearing cool clothes with mesh holes in them.
  • Proenza Shouler - Dark, sad, and unwearable.  I want to feel happy in the spring, not sad because my clothing is all black and gray with not even a single burst of color - Oh! Wait! There's beige!
  • Balenciaga - No explanation necessary, just look at the collection.
